Acer griseum description: This rounded maple will grow to a medium sized tree. This deciduous slow growing tree provides an impressive display of orange - brown bark in winter, and shows good autumn colour. Plant as specimen in grass, or group with other trees.

Acer griseum cultivation notes: This Acer will flourish in any fertile well drained soil. Plant in full sun / partial shade - avoiding very cold exposed areas. During winter trim shoots / branches that obscure trunk to reveal attractive bark, as well as all diseased dying and dead wood.

Plant Strengths: Attractive autumn colour; Ornamental winter bark / tracery; Provides valuable winter interest; Attractive form or foliage for all year interest; Tolerates cold exposed locations.

Plant Weaknesses: Does not produce showy attractive flowers; Does not tolerate very dry or very wet soils.
