Clematis cirrhosa cultivation notes: Clematis will flourish in full sun or partial shade, prefering a shletered spot in deep fertile soil where its roots to be kept cool. Avoid really hot dry or water logged soils and try to plant where roots are in a shady spot. Plant 3 -4 inches below the soil level using plenty soil improver. Tie young growth into support and trim to shape after flowering. Mulch soil surface with compost in autumn avoiding base of stem and continue to tie in growth and trim to shape.
