Pinus mugo cultivation notes: The hardy pine prefers a poorer well drained, sandy soil on neutral to acid (not chalky) soil. Plant in an open sunny shade free position including any cold and exposured spots. Don’t prune unless for shape or to removing dead weak wood

Plant Strengths: All round tough plant suitable for problem areas; Evergreen foliage for all year round colour and screening; Suitable for container growing; Architectural plant – ideal as a ‘stand out’ plant; Attractive form or foliage for all year interest; Tolerates full sun and sandy, drought-prone soils; Tolerates cold exposed locations; Tolerates heavy clay soils.
Plant Weaknesses: Does not produce showy attractive flowers.
