Quercus palustris cultivation notes: This compact ornamental oak does best on a well drained neutral or acid soil. the Oak flourishes in open grassland being often planted in groups or as a small specimen. The only thing it wont like is heavy shade.

Plant Strengths: Attractive autumn colour; All round tough plant suitable for problem areas; Fruit / berry producing; Tolerates full sun and sandy, drought-prone soils; Tolerates cold exposed locations; Tolerates heavy clay soils.
Plant Weaknesses: Does not produce attractive flowers.
