Rheum palmatum cultivation notes: This moisture loving large perennial will grow in any moist fertile soil including heavy clay in full or part sun. Dig in compost when planting and mulch crowns every year in autumn.

Plant Strengths: Architectural plant – ideal as a ‘stand out’ plant; Attractive form or foliage for all year interest; Tolerates permanently wet soil; Tolerates heavy clay soils.

Plant Weaknesses: Invasive top growth; Will not tolerate exposed, cold or hot and sunny locations.
