Trees & Shrubs For Alkaline, Chalky Soils

A range of trees and shrubs will be quite happy on alkaline soils; in fact many dry loving trees and shrubs will positively flourish on well drained chalky soils.

It is always sensible to stake and tie trees securely and always dig in plenty of compost and fertilizer into the planting pit to give the young plant a good start and after watering in use a deep mulch to help lock in any soil moisture.
