: Variegated box grows to small evergreen tree if left to grow - however it is commonly grown as a low hedge, with its tight gold and green foliage responding to trimming. Used for formal bed edging and topiary - box is slow grower worth waiting for.
Buxus sempervirens cultivation notes:
Box will tolerate both full sun and partial shade, as well as a variety of soils, especially chalky soils - just avoid very wet soils. Box is ideal for hedging / topiary - clip to shape twice yearly in early spring / autumn.
