Catalpa Bignonioides (Indian Bean Tree)
This mop headed medium sized tree, with its huge golden yellow leaves and white summer flowers, makes an attractive specimen for the larger garden. Flowers are followed by 'bean' pods. 10m x 10m.
Catalpa will tolerate most soil types - being well suited to heavy clays. Generally a deep fertile soil is best. This tree is tender so avoid exposed cold areas - preferably plant in full sun in sheltered area. Prune dead wood in early spring.
