Campsis radicans (Trumpet Creeper)
Campsis radicans description: This tender climber will rapidly cover any structure it is trained to - producing a profusion of orange red trumpet shaped flowers throughout the summer months. Campsis also produces attractive tiered foliage, growing to 10m.
Campsis radicans cultivation notes: Campsis will be happy in any well drained and fertile soil, in warm sunny position, being ideal for up a south facing warm wall, fence or pergolla. This climber grows fast and long and initially requires training, however it will eventually produce self clinging growth. Shade for the root system will help as campsis requires a cool root run - an occasional mulch would help. Prune back frost damaged / excessive growth in spring and rip out problem suckers.
