This tender climber will rapidly cover any structure it is trained to - producing a profusion of orange red trumpet shaped flowers throughout the summer months. Campsis also produces attractive tiered foliage, growing to 10m.
Campsis radicans - Cultivation Notes
Campsis will be happy in a well drained fertile soil in warm sunny position, being ideal for up a south facing warm wall, fence or pergola. Campsis is a fast growing climber and initially requires training. Trumpet Vine will eventually produce self clinging growth. Shade for the root system will help as campsis requires a cool root run - an occasional mulch would help. Prune back frost damaged / excessive growth in spring and rip out problem suckers.
