Crambe maritima description: This is a low growing Crambe is native to the UK whee it grows on shingle shoreline. It is not the most attractive of plants and lacks the impact of its ornamental cousin; however it is very hardy and has uses as an edible plant.

Crambe maritima cultivation notes: This clump forming perennial will flourish in any well drained fertile deep topsoil in full of part shade. Crambe requires plenty of space, so plant 1 metre a part towards back of boarder. Good for coastal areas.

Plant Strengths: Scented blossom; Attracts wildlife to feed or nest; All round tough plant suitable for problem areas; Architectural plant – ideal as a ‘stand out’ plant; Suitable for exposed coastal planting; Tolerates full sun and sandy, drought-prone soils; Tolerates cold exposed locations.
