Cytisus Plants

7 plants found in genus "Cytisus"

The Cytisus genus consists of around 50 species of mostly shrubby sun loving hardy perennials. Cytisus' common name is broom and all are pod producing legumes, with pods follow on from impressive displays of scented pea like blossom which appear in early summer. You will usually find a species or cultivar that will fit your design needs - some Cytisus will act as lowish spreading ground cover which will be happy mid or front border, while others will grow upward into tall screening shrubs. Plant Cytisus in a dry soil in full sun and avoid very fertile or wet soils.
