Lonicera Plants
9 plants found in genus "Lonicera"
Lonicera is commonly known as the honeysuckle and comes in both climbing and shrubby forms. The flowering climber is the more commonly planted, however the shrubby Lonicera has its own merits. The climbers are a cottage garden essential, being much appreciated for their beautiful blossom and scent, but some are more strongly scented than others. The shrubby Loniceras produce a similar flower to the climbers but can be rather scruffy looking. There is also one evergreen - Lonicera nitida - which is clipped and grown as a formal hedge. Ironically this very un honeysuckle like shrub is probably the most commonly planted lonicera, being something of a suburban stalwart, much planted as a low growing clippable evergreen hedge.
