Escallonia laevis - Cultivation Notes
This reliable evergreen shrub will tolerate a hot dry spot in demanding moist or dry soil, including chalky soils. Escallonia can either be left to fill a space in the border or be trimmed to form a loose hedge. Escallonia is especially happy near the coast in an exposed sunny spot. Avoid planting in areas prone to extreme cold. In event that this shrub becomes leggy simply cut it back hard and mulch with well rotted compost to feed.
