Herbaceous perennials with aromatic foliage

Gardeners often overlook the full range sensory appeal that can come with certain garden plants. Maybe we focus to much on flower and foliage colour and overlook, or maybe over smell, the impact of plants that have scented foliage.

Scented foliage is often associated with Mediterranean herbs, which will flourish in hot dry areas of the garden. Herbs such as Sage, Rosemary and Lavender will also produce a decent display of blossom and also have interesting foliage and have culinary value, so many scented foliage plants are actually in rounders.

Interesting smelling leaves will be much appreciated by children who will love the crush and sniff appeal of such plants. Also for visually impaired garden users scented foliage can be appreciated for its feel and its smell, especially if scented plants are planted in raised beds near where garden visitors might site and enjoy the garden.
