Camellia - Cultivation Notes

This popular evergreen shrub requires a well drained fertile neutral or acidic soil, being happiest on acid sands with shelter from extreme sun or wind. Camellia is well suited to cool shady woodland planting and they are naturally compact and don’t like pruning. Mulch occasionally with compost or bark chip to keep roots cool and feed with magnesium sulphate if foliage starts yellowing.
