Described as an aromatic sub shrub thyme is a compact low growing staple of any half decent herb garden as well as being an attractive plant in its own right. Thyme is well suited to growing in small pots within the most limited outside space.
The variety Silver Queen is a low growing / creeping variety which works well in a rockery or herb garden, having tiny dark green foliage with a distinctive cream - white edge, giving it silvery finish. As this variety is part of the citriodes species it has a lemony scent. Foliage can cut and can be used in cooking.

This compact ground hugging herb requires a dry sunny spot ideally ammongst gravel or paving where it can spread out and avoid smouthering. Thyme will flourish in any well drained soil whether chalky or sandy.
